Affiliate Disclosure

This page explains how Lumos Network earns money, in enough detail that you can judge the rest of the site against it. It is written by the publisher, MSMM-SOU s.r.o., and it applies to every page here.

The short version

Lumos Network carries a paid link to Surfshark Antivirus. If you follow that link and buy a subscription, the vendor pays MSMM-SOU s.r.o. a commission calculated as a share of the sale. You pay the vendor's ordinary price; the commission comes out of the vendor's margin and nothing is added to your bill because you arrived through this site. This is the only way the site earns anything.

How the arrangement works

The link is an affiliate link operated through the vendor's affiliate programme. When you click it, the programme records that the visit came from this publisher's account. If a purchase follows within the programme's attribution window, the sale is credited to that account and a percentage of the sale value is paid to MSMM-SOU s.r.o.

The payment is a share of a completed sale — it is not a fee for writing about the product, not a payment for placement, and not a payment for a favourable description. No money changes hands unless a reader chooses, independently, to buy something.

Every affiliate link on this site behaves the same way and is identifiable before you click it. Each one opens the vendor's own website directly in a new tab, carries the rel="sponsored nofollow" attributes that mark a paid link, and is accompanied by a sentence saying it is paid. No affiliate link on this site passes through a redirect on this domain, is assembled by script when you click, or hides its destination — hover over any of them and your browser's status bar will show the vendor's address.

What the commission does not influence

  • What any page says. No vendor has written, reviewed, edited or approved any sentence on this site, and there is no agreement requiring favourable treatment.
  • The order or prominence of coverage. Nothing is ranked, scored or positioned by commission rate. There are no scores at all.
  • The price you pay. The vendor sets the price, and following an affiliate link does not raise it. It does not lower it either, and no page here claims a discount.
  • What is left out. Where this site does not know something about the product it links to, the page says it does not know, rather than filling the gap.

What the commission does determine

This is the part most disclosure pages omit, and it is the part that actually matters.

Commission determines scope. Maintaining accurate, dated coverage of a product takes time, and a publisher of this size directs that time towards the product it has a commercial relationship with. The consequence is a roundup covering one product rather than a survey of the market. Nothing here tells you that Surfshark Antivirus is better than a product not mentioned, because the products not mentioned were never examined and are not being ranked by omission.

Coverage is therefore decided by two things in combination: whether a commercial relationship exists, and whether the subject is one this publisher can write about accurately from the vendor's own documentation. That is a narrow basis, and stating it plainly is more useful to a reader than a claim of independence that the funding model would not support. What else is not happening here

The site carries no display advertising, no sponsored posts, no paid reviews, no press releases and no vendor-supplied content of any kind. It publishes no testimonials, no user reviews and no star ratings, because none could be verified. It collects nothing from readers, so there is no data to sell and no mailing list to rent — the privacy policy sets that out in detail.

Your position as a reader

You are free to ignore the link entirely. Every page on this site is written to be useful without it: the explanation of how detection works, the platform comparisons, the decision guide and the consumer-rights material all stand on their own, and nothing is withheld behind a click. If you decide a product covered here suits you, going directly to the vendor's site costs you nothing and pays this publisher nothing, and that is a perfectly reasonable thing to do.

Buying through the link is what keeps the site published. Neither choice changes what you pay.

Australian disclosure obligations

Under Australian Consumer Law, a commercial relationship behind an apparently independent recommendation must be disclosed, and misleading or deceptive conduct in trade is prohibited and enforceable against the publisher of a claim as well as the seller of a product. That is why the disclosure appears in three places rather than one: in the upper part of the home page, immediately beside every paid link, and in full on this page. Lumos Network is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of them. Product names are used for identification and description only, and this site is not an official, authorised or partner site for any vendor.
